delish!

I made this last night for dinner and it was DELISH! It was not good for you but it was definitely worth it! By the way, yes, if you are wondering, that meant that I went to the grocery store AND cooked! Huge deal for those of you that don't know how much I hate the grocery store. Anyways, it was fun and the food was great - I think Danny appreciated something other than pp&j. :) Here is the recipe if you are interested.

O how i love it!

Snow that is. My dad emailed me yesterday saying how it was snowing in Canada (he is there on business) and I was so jealous! I just LOVE snow, I think mostly because it reminds me of Norway and oh how I long to go back there. One day....anyways. I can now say that it is snowing here in H-town. Sorry the picture is not so good but it was taken on a phone. It is proof that it is snowing though (you can see it start to stick to the grass). Not just little drops that you think could possibly be snow but huge, fluffy, white flakes that swirl around you and are actually sticking to the ground. I can't wait to get home and let the dogs out to see what they think. Hope you are enjoying it as much as I am!

Thankful heart

This Thanksgiving seemed to go by so fast, it was a whirlwind of events. It started of Wednesday after work where Danny and I met up with the MIL and FIL to film a top secret mission. Kyle, Danny's brother popped the question to his girlfriend of 8 years! We all met at The Galleria and manned our posts on the second level overlooking Santa. As Kyle and Stephanie got in line we crept up to the edge and started the filming. They got up to Santa, she sat on his knee and Kyle reached behind and got a teddy bear with a little black box attached. He got on his knee and the rest is history. :)

Thursday Danny and I went over to my parents house and had a fabulous dinner. There are so many things to be thankful for this year. The Lord has blessed both Danny and I with jobs that we love, good health, families that love and support us. We really couldn't ask for more. This year I decided I wanted to try and fried turkey, I had never had one and everyone talks about how good they are. So Danny and I got a recipe from Paula Dean and fried up a turkey. It was really good but you just can't beat my dad's smoke turkey. It was soooo good. I think we might try it again but use flavored injections instead of just rub. Of course after the meal that we stuffed ourselves with we turned on the Aggie game. We played a good game, played hard and that is all that matters, right?!? Friday started early for Danny. He decided this year he wanted a TV so he went out at 3:30AM and waited until Sears opened at 4AM. That is crazy! I don't think I will ever want something that bad to get up that early. Danny walked in, got the 50 inch TV, came home and crashed. We woke up a couple hours later to drive out to the ranch where we celebrated Thanksgiving with Danny's family. It is so nice to go out there, away from everything. Both Danny and I love that place. We enjoyed another wonderful meal and quality family time. Now there is one story that I should tell you about. We were out taking Struzick family pictures and 2 of the ranch hands horses came up to us. Now if you know me you know I DON'T do horses. So I definately kept my distance but everyone else was friendly with the horses, petting them, etc. Well after Kay was done petting her horse she walked away and that horse was NOT done with her so he bit her. A horse bit my MIL. I was freaking out, she was freaking out so we all went inside to take a look at what the horse had done. Man on man he got her good.

The rest of the weekend was nice and relaxing with a little Christmas decorating and wedding planning. Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

New Moon

Last night I finally saw New Moon and it was wonderful! I rushed home after work, change into the shirts that we made (yes we made shirts, you read correctly) and then went out to dinner with the girls. We decided on Chipotle so we could get to the theater early in case there was a line - we had to get good seats. So, I ordered my burrito bowl and it is my turn to pay and i look in my purse and low and behold my wallet was missing. I started having a minor freak out thinking about how my life is in that wallet and my TICKET was in there! How was I going to see the movie now. I would have to spend another $10 on a ticket - can you believe that tickets to see movies are $10 - seriously!?! Anyways Erin so kindly paid for me, I took pictures and we were on our way to the movie. Oh and by the way I figured my wallet was at work and Danny was able to read me the email confirmation number through my email so I didn't have to buy a new ticket. We got to the theater, got our seats in the middle, realized that we were way early so we ate our New Moon chocolate bars that my mom bought and chatted! Thanks mom! Overall the movie was great, for the most part it followed the book, the acting was not so great but I didn't expect it to be. The 3rd book Eclipse comes out June 2010 and trust me it is already on my calendar. I can't wait!

Gig'em Ags

Well in case anyone missed the game on Sat - the aggies kicked some bootay! Ok, ok let me back up a little I am getting ahead of myself. So Friday night Danny and I attended the 2nd annual Gage Halloween party. Let me just tell you about my outfit. Danny and I didn't want to buy any costumes this year so we had to get creative. I was going to go as a pirate but I didn't have enough of the costume in my closet so I went over to Katie's house and we searched through her old costumes and then through her drawers and low and behold we found this fabulous old dance costume - why she still has it after a couple house moves....I don't know but I went with it. :) You can check out the pics below to find out what Danny and I went as. The Gage party was good times but we couldn't stay very late because we had to wake up early to go to Aggieland - oh how I miss that place. We left early Sat. so we could meet Bobby (Danny's brother) to get his senior boots! If anyone doesn't know about them - they are pretty much a huge deal and Bobby looked great in them, although he can't wear them until next year, he has them and that is all that counts. After the boot extravaganza we got lunch with Danny's parents and then enjoyed a little tailgating and of course the great game and the wonderful weather! I was so thankful that Sunday was a lazy day so I could work on getting rid of the nasty cold that I have that is pretty persistent in sticking around, ugh.... P.S. My Grandmother broke her hip this weekend and had surgery yesterday to fix it but please keep her in your prayers. Thanks!

obsession

So some of you know that I might be a little bit obsessed with Twilight. At first when it became popular I refused to "jump on the bandwagon" and be all about it. I thought it was so dumb - how would I get into vampires. I am so not a sci-fi girl. One weekend when I was in Dallas my friend Erin was reading them and she said "here borrow the first 3 (out of 4) books and just try them". So I took them and was ok with it because I wasn't reading anything good at the moment. Well that night I began my Twilight journey. I became enthralled with the book immediately and couldn't put it down. 1 week later I was done with all 4 books. Danny says that I checked out that week because I was constantly reading - on my lunch break, as soon as I got home until about 2am every night until I was done. It even went as far as stalking Barnes and Nobles early Saturday morning waiting for them to open so I could get the 4th book. Am I a little crazy - I don't think so. If you ask most Twilight fans I am sure they are just as fanatical as I am. So speaking of being a fan. This past weekend my friend Katie and I went to Nordstroms to look for shoes and came across this.....prepare yourself.

The last one you can't so much see but it is of me with both Jacob and Edward because I don't have a team - I just like them both.

My oh My!

I have completely been MIA from the blog world because life if busy. I know that is not an excuse but that is all I have. From crazy working (end of the fiscal year for us) bachlorette party getaway weekends, weddings, Danny's 27th birthday and just the normal happenings of life - it has been hectic. Anyways, I am back - good or bad.

Let's see this past weekend was filled with college football, my bosses wedding sat. night and then Sunday we ventured to C.S. for Bobby's (Danny's brother) band concert. It was a nice, full weekend. Oh p.s. who else is loving this weather???!!! I don't care that it is raining - I just LOVE that it is getting cold. I wish it snowed here but alas.....I live in Houston, I don't know what I am thinking and no, snow that just falls and doesn't stick the pavement is not snow. I got spoiled with the white, fluffy, kinda like marshmallow snow from Norway and we just don't get that here. Anyways I can finally say it is beginning to look a lot like fall and that means it is almost Christmas. Here are some of the things that just tell me it is fall:

1. Starbucks but out their pumpkin spice latte
2. Bringing out the apple cider
3. You can start wearing coats and turtlenecks (I wore one today)
4. Changing of the leaves - yeah i know you don't so much get to see that here but we can see pictures, that counts right?!
5. Danny's birthday (Oct. 4)
6. Driving past Santa's Wonderland near C.S. and knowing that it is about to open (OMG i can't wait)

Is it too early to start listening to Christmas music???? I know this post is completely sporadic but I have been away so long I just don't know where to begin.

More Celebrations!

This weekend was another great weekend. It started out Friday night going to the "movie in the park" at Discovery Green. The whole family came and it was kind of a surprise bday party for my mom. We got burgers from The Lake House (really good restaurant), brought drinks and ate picnic style in the park and of course we had a leopard cake for our sassy mother. It was a great evening UNTIL they started the movie. It was called The House of Yes and it was awful!!!!!!!!! Jenna and I even goggled it to make sure it was a family movie and not too weird but oh no - it was the worst movie we have ever seen! It is something we can laugh about now but Jenna and I were giggling the whole time like little 4 year olds cause it was SO awkward - definitely NOT a family friendly movie. It was a good experience though, I do recommend doing it, just check out the movie first.

Saturday was basically college football day. I did a little shopping with my mom and sister and then bought ribbon to make a ribbon wreath - I will let you know how it turns out when I am done. Later that night Danny, me, Katie and Josh headed up to Nick's Place to watch the tu game and play some 42 - and the girls won of course :).

Sunday was a day at the ranch to celebrate Gary's (Danny's dad) birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARY!!!! It was nice to get away, fish, shoot skeet and relax. Of course everyone had a great time, the dogs included!

Today is a special day because just a couple years ago my momma was born! Happy birthday mom! I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing and fun day. I just want to say a quick thank you for everything you have done for me and taught me over the years. You have always been there when I needed you whether it was to give me good advice, make me laugh or keep me from fainting when I saw my own blood. You have taught me kindness, humility and how to be a woman of God. I truely treasure our relationship, whether it me mom and daughter or best friends. Thank you and I love you.

Another one!!!!!

Oh Danny you are spoiling me with all these girls weekends (but I do miss you when you are gone ;)). So, Danny was away celebrating bachelorhood with one of his buddies that will be getting married soon so that left me with more girl time. It started out Friday night with Jenna, Katie and Allison driving down from C.S. They came and checked out my house, then we went to Chuy's for fun-filled night and then back to the house where we had some good girl talk......we will leave it at that. :) Woke up early Saturday morning to do nothing else but what a girl is good at, S-H-O-P! We headed out to the outlet mall on 290, at first it was a bit sad because we were not finding anything but then at last - we found Gap - where we finally all bought something. Turned out to be a successful trip! They headed back to C.S. and I headed out to meet Erin for dinner. And then before I knew it, it was the last day of the weekend so I headed to a wedding shower for Nanda! Can you believe that she is getting married in 5 weeks???!!!!!!??? I know?!? I can't either. Anyways, all in all it was a great weekend!

Girls weekend

"When the cat is away the mice will play" - that about sums up the weekend for me. :) Danny went dove hunting with his buddies and well, I played! It started out by Katie, Nanda and Kelsey and I going out for dinner at Chuy's (they opened one up right next to my house). Well, we ended up getting there around 6:30 and leaving around 10....long but way fun time. Got back to the house and just had girl time. We were going to make some chocolate fondue but were way too full so we reminiced on good times - stayed up til 3.....haven't done that in a long time.

Saturday I decided to go to home sweet home College Station for some girl time with my sister. We didn't go to the game but gig'em aggies for winning. We just went and had some coffee at Tarazzo's and talked.....man oh man the stories....haha. Sunday woke up and hung out and I tried to be crafty. I don't know if this is apparent in yalls families but in mine it is......my mom is extremely crafty and creative and I just didn't get that gene but Jenna did - so I atempted to be crafty and Jenna was crafty. Let me just tell you how nice it is to have a holiday. Basically - it is just nice to have a lazy day on this Labor Day.

more celebration....

This past weekend was a funfilled weekend. We celebrated my brothers birthday - his big 30th birthday. We started out Friday night at our house with dinner and dessert followed by a little Wii action, which was quite entertaining. It continued on into Saturday night when we went to the Aquarium for dinner and the tour. They have some really interesting fish down there and did anyone else NOT know that they had white tigers there??? I could not believe it - not sure what tigers have to do with an aquarium but oh well, that could just be me. It was a fun family night. My grandparents came down from Ft. Worth to help get the party started. :) Below are some pics.

So - I have decided to do a little meal planning. I am tired of coming home from work where both Danny and myself look at eachother just say "what are we having for dinner?" and then we realize that we really don't have much. Let's just say over the past couple of weeks we have enojyed a lot of peanutbutter sandwhiches. Now, I like to cook (when I know what I am doing) but I do NOT like going to the grocery store! It is like a nightmare for me. I don't know why - I am just not the fan and because I have such a sweet husband he will normally go for me but that means he brings home the cookies, ice cream and any other sweet thing he can get ahold of. He has a major sweet tooth - to say the least. With that, I have gone to the grocery store and tomorrow night we are going to have chicken francoise with dirty rice and salad. Not sure how it will turn out but it is a start. :)

I can.....right?!?

So, I LOVE reading blogs. I just think they are so interesting and it is just another way to keep up with my friends in this busy world. I have always wanted to blog but for some reason I was like "only people with babies should blog - they have much more to talk about". I don't know why I thought that....I have stuff to say as well....right?!? So with that I have decided to start a blog of my own - one that will tell the life stories of me and my love.

Let's start out with story number uno. This past weekend it was my dad's 58, years young, birthday. We celebrated Friday night with dinner and cake that my sister made (Jenna, you will need to know this name for future posts). Then after presents we enjoyed a fun game of mexican train - it might sounds racist but it totally is not, at least I don't think. Anyways, Saturday we celebrated by having a little birthday party at the Texas Rock Gym to go rock climbing. Now, I haven't done that in YEARS - like when I lived in Norway years - but it was a blast. Danny and I will definately be going back. Here are some pictures of the evening.
