Our first road trip

....Post Molly that is. And it wasn't bad at all. We only had to stop one time on the way up and one time on the way back due to crying but that was ok because it was time for all of us to eat. We did only go as far as Corpus but hey it was a road trip for Molly. We went so she could visit/meet her Great Grandma for the first time. It was a special time for both. Because of the timing we also got to celebrate her birthday. 84 years young. :) Here are some pics to document the fun trip.

We started off getting spontaneous bluebonnet pictures on the way up there. Please disregard the "Howdy Neighbor" shirt I am wearing. You can tell I am new to this type of thing because I didn't plan better.

Her Great Grandma getting to feed her.

Of course we had to visit the original Whataburger and go to the beach! She enjoyed both. This little girl just loves the sun on her skin (limited time of course, we dont want to burn this soft baby skin) and wind on her face. She is gonna be an outside girl, that is for sure.

Then she had to come back to the house and tell everyone about all the new things she saw!

All in all, I think she had a great trip. She did well at night and didn't get too fussy during the day. Now to get ready for the next road trip in May, on to Ft. Worth.

The many emotions of a 9 week old

Here are a couple pictures that capture Molly's mood all in about 2 minutes time. Can you tell she is a female. :)

"Mommy I am not sure I want to wake up yet."

"Oh but wait - I love being awake. There is so much fun stuff to look at!"

"Mommy you are so funny."

"Mom, you are always putting that black box in my face but I know what to do :) ."

"Maybe I am still tired."

"I am still thinking of that joke you told, it was just so funny."

"Oh I forgot, I have a mobile above me."

"What are those shapes again?"

"Oh yeah, there are sheep, moons and stars."

"Ohhhh there is music too"

"I am over the mobile now. Can I cuddle with you instead?"

"Yeah, I am gonna need you to pick me up."

Molly's 2 month check-up

Well, the day finally came where she had to get her first round of vaccines. And people are right, it was way worse for me than it was for her. She started out chatting with Daddy (I had to bring reinforcements because I couldn't go through this alone!).

Then we got the shots and it was awful. I didn't take a picture of her because I was too busy crying. The first vaccine was oral drops which tasted sweet. If she is related to her Daddy then she is bound to love sweet tastes which proved to be true because she gobbled that thing up wanting more after she got past the initial shock of a different taste. Then came the not so fun part - the shots. She got 3 of them all in her thighs. Once they were over we scooped her up, gave her a cuddle then some milk and she was good to go. She seemed to forgot all about it while I am still over in the corner crying about it. I am glad she is braver than her momma.

"See momma I am fine. I am a big girl and got the band aids to prove it."

On to a lighter point, here are her 2 month stats.
Height - 24.25 inches (96%) You have grown 1.25 inches since the last visit. You are one tall girl!
Weight - 12lbs 6oz (67%) You have gained 2lbs 1oz. You are a healthy girl!
Head circumference - 15.98 inches (86%). It grew .98 inches.
Overall, you are a healthy, growing baby girl.

Happy St. Paddy's Day To Ya

Did you wear your green? Well, Molly sure did to make sure no one would pinch her!

The outfit came with a hat so I had to put it on her. It is a little big but she just looks so darn cute!

"Stickin my toungue out because, well, that is what I do and the wind tastes so good!"

Just talking away. I envision her singing some Disney movie song - insert the Little Mermaid song, Part of Your World. Not that she has ever seen that movie but I can just see her belting this at the top of her lungs when she is older. At least that is what momma used to do and let's be honest, still does sometimes. Those Disney songs are the best for singing your heart out.

And then, this was her laughing about it.

It was a good day!

2 months old!

You are 2 months old today! I just can't believe it. You are just growing up too fast! Before I know it I will be sending you off to college. OK, I know that is a little dramatic but that is kinda how I feel sometimes. This is all just going to go by too fast, I just know it. So with that said, here are some things that I don't want to forget about you.

• You are wearing size 1 diapers
• You drink 4 ounces of milk at each feeding
• You are wearing 3 month clothes and started wearing those right when you turned 1 month. You are growing like a weed.
• You have really become a GREAT sleeper at night starting in week 7. You go to bed around 8:30pm and wake up around 6am and then around 7:30am-8:30am. Those long stretches really help mommy out.
• You have made the complete transition to your crib. We did this in week 6 but I keep the monitor close to make sure I can hear you if you need me.
• You have become a little chatterbox. You will just sit there and talk, talk, talk. If only I could translate baby talk because I am sure you are solving the worlds problems.
• You smile at people intentionally now and it just melts everyone's heart.
• You have definitely found your hands. Those things are in your mouth constantly. You haven't figured out how to put your thumb or finger in your mouth so for now it is your whole fist.
• You are still really a content baby. You only cry when you are tired or hungry. If you need to change positions or something you grunt or make this sad face to let us know we need to do something about it.
• You are good at putting yourself to sleep for the most part. If we have over stimulated you and you are just exhausted we have to walk around to put you to sleep.
• You have what we call “old man hair” or somewhat of a mullet. You are business in the front and party in the back girl. You have short hair in the front then these long hairs (your duck feathers) on the top of your head and then bald in the middle back (from where you rub your head all the time) and then a lot of hair at the bottom.
• You are still a little squeaker. The doctor said that is going to go away at some point but I think it is super cute. You squeak a lot in your sleep.
• You still LOVE bath time - like ridiculously love bath time. You will look at yourself in the mirror and just stare. That is the only time you are interested in looking at yourself.
• You take a good long nap in the morning and 2 shorter ones in the afternoon. We still don't have a definitely schedule yet but are working on one.
• You like your car seat which is good because you are an on the go baby. You pretty much fall asleep every time we are in the car but if for some reason you are awake you do NOT like the car to stop so we pump the breaks at stop lights. We are one of those cars where you sit and wonder why in the world don't they just keep their foot on the breaks but now I understand why people do this.....haha.

Molly, we just love you so much. I didn't realize that you could love someone this much. People are so right when they talk about a mother's love being so special, I get that now. I just want to squeeze you and hug you all the time. I want nothing but the best for you little girl. You make me want to be a better person all the time and I am not sure how a little 2 month old can make someone feel this way but you do. I love watching your little personality develop and they new "tricks" you can do. Now, people talk about how they can't even remember life before they had a baby well I do remember life before you (I pretty much remember all the sleep) but I can't imagine life without you! You are the little light of my life Molly. Oh how I love you so.
This time next month I will be back at work. I just don't know how I feel about that but that is a whole other post.

iphone photo dump

It is time to share some of the pics that I have on my phone. It is safe to say that Molly knows what a phone and a camera look like.

Is the bow a bit much???? Of course not, the bigger the better, right!

"Life is just so tiring and daddy is just so comfortable!"

"My cubby cheaks are just so cute."

"I just look so European in my cute duds."

Beacause I just think this is a sweet picture.

Smiling while on a walk.

"Where my hand is most of the time now, in my mouth."

"Just talking to momma."
