Hanging Out

So this is how Molly and I hang out during the day when I need to get things done.

P.S.S. She took her first nap in her crib today and did great! I put her down when she was awake and she put herself to sleep with no crying.

Our special place

One of my favorite places is sitting in the glider in Molly's room - with Molly of course. Every night when she wakes up to eat I have started putting her back to sleep by rocking her in the glider (I know people say you shouldn't do this because then she will expect it but she is a good self soother so I am not too worried....it could come back to bite me but for now we both like it). Sometimes she goes right back to sleep and other times we just sit and chit chat with each other - you know - girl talk. Even though I am exhausted I have come to treasure these moments because I know they will be gone before I know it. So, we rock, we chat/sing, we sometimes both fall asleep but every time I pray for this little girl. This has turned into a great prayer time for her. This little glider, in the middle of the night has turned into a sacred place for me because I can truly concentrate on her with no distractions - because let's be real, it is the middle of the night and we are just surrounded by darkness so it is a great time to talk to God. We have also recently started a night time routine which starts with bathtime and ends with reading her a couple books in the glider. Here is a picture of us in her chair, pajamas and all.

1 month old

Molly Grace you are one month old now (and 2 days). ONE MONTH!!! I can't believe it. I can't believe how fast it has gone by. You have already changed so much. Things have gotten a lot better for me as well. I am not 100% but SO much better. I finally was able to get off that antibiotic which means you are drinking my milk again. We tried to start nursing but it just didn't work so right now we are just sticking to the bottles which is fine with me and I think it makes you happy as well. You have quite a bit of awake time now so you are showing everyone your pretty blue eyes. Every time I take you out everyone comments on how pretty you are! Below is a one month pic and a newborn pic for comparison. Here are some of the things you are doing that I don't want to forget:

• You are grasping on to things especially my hands while you are drinking a bottle.
• You are getting better at focusing on things especially my face.
• You have this really cute laugh (which I am determined to catch on video) that you do when you are sleeping. It is like you suck in air and smile really big and laugh. I like to think that you are dreaming about mommy and daddy but I am guessing you are working out some gas.
• Your favorite place is on your changing pad in your room. If you are crying all we have to do is go put you on your changing pad and you calm down. You just take in your room and look around. Of course this doesn’t always work but most of the time it does.
• You grunt – A LOT! I didn’t realize that babies grunt but you sure do. I guess it is just your way of talking to us before your find your voice.
• Speaking of finding your voice. You are starting to find it. You make little noises throughout the day so I think you will find your voice soon enough. You also make a lot of noise while you are eating, like you can’t get enough.
• You are sleeping in your bassinet next to our bed but I think you will transition to your crib soon but not sure I am ready for that….we will see.
• You sleep so much better on your belly. Before anyone freaks out on me, you do sleep on your back at night. You only sleep on your belly during the day when I am watching you to make sure you can breathe.
• I am not sold that you are a total pacifier girl yet. Sometimes you really love it and others you do want it anywhere near you. You also like to put your hand in your mouth so I am not sure if you are going to find your thumb or not.
• You still get the hiccups all the time but they never seem to bother you.
• You drink about 3oz of milk every feeding which means you are a growing girl.
• You have this stretch that you do after every feeding where you cock your head up and to the side and put both arms above your head. I think it is the cutest little thing ever.
• You are wearing newborn outfits still but not for long. Your are growing too fast! You transitioned to size 1 diapers about 2 weeks ago.
• You love your bath time and I mean love it. You would just sit in there as long as you could.
• You are a good baby. You really don’t cry unless you need something. You are a content and happy baby.
• My favorite thing is that you are a little cuddle bug. You will lay in my arms as long as I let you.

We went to see Dr. D today for your one month checkup and she said you were doing great! Here are your stats.
Height - 23 inches (96%) You have grown 2 inches since the last visit.
Weight - 10 lbs 5 oz (79%) You have gained 1 lb 12 oz. You are a healthy girl!
Head circumference - 15 inches (73%)
We love you so much miss. molly and can't imagine life without you.

Aunt Nenna

Molly was so excited that Aunt Nenna came into town this weekend to hang out. She hadn't seen her since she was born so she had to come in from Baylor to get her fix. She stayed with us which was nice for Danny and I because she wanted to wake up with her in the night so it gave us a little bit of a break. Danny more so than me but I will take a couple extra minutes where I can get them. We did all kinds of things.

Molly's G-mommas

I have to say that if it weren't for my mom and my mother in law I wouldn't have been able to get through everything. Molly and I have been super blessed to have so much help. At first I didn't think I would really need a whole lot of help (this was before Molly came along) and that Danny and I could handle everything. Boy was I wrong! The first night it was just me and Danny and it was interesting. We called in the Grandma's after that night because that is when things started going downhill for me. They both of been so helpful there is really no way that I will be able to thank them enough. They have basically put thier lives on hold for 3 weeks to come over and hold Molly, clean my house, do the dishes, tend to me, tend to Danny when he got strep throat 2 days after Molly came home, spend the night, and so much more. Molly is so lucky to have 2 wonderful role models to look up to - and really, I am just as lucky.

Funny Molly Videos

Thanks for the encouragement from that last post. I really appreciate it and it is nice to know I am not alone in this. :) In this post I want to share a couple videos that we took in the hospital that we find quite amusing. One is Molly sneezing and the other is her with the hiccups which she got all the time in the womb and still gets all the time. Enojy! The quality isn't so good because it was done on Danny's phone but the content is still good although I might be biased. I am trying to catch her laughing on video so I can post it. I think it is just hilarious! She laughs in her sleep and I like to think it is because her mommy is so funny. :)

It has been rough

Now this post maybe TMI for most people but I need a place to vent about it because nothing seems to be going right. Everything with Molly is great, it is just me that is not so great so it makes tending to a newborn a bit difficult. So, if you just want to see pics just scroll to the bottom.

I know no one ever said being a mom was easy but I definitely didn't think it was going to be this hard in the beginning. Don't get me wrong I could not be more in love with this little lady but I have had a bit of a rough patch in becoming a new mommy. She is 3 weeks old today and I am still not 100%. I knew I wouldn't be completely back to normal because let's face it, I had a baby, but I didn't expect to get 2 rounds of mastitis, a yeast infection (TMI I know but this was caused by the yeast in the mastitis medicine) and then a UTI that can't seem to be fixed. I have gone through 3 different kinds of antibiotics and nothing has worked. The urologist thinks that it is some super bacteria that I got from the hospital which means that whatever it is, it is resistant to most medicines. Now, I am on a really strong antibiotic where I can't nurse Molly and she has to go on formula. That is definitely something that I didn't want to happen but it has and I am dealing with it. We were just getting the hang of nursing and we had to stop - grrrr. Nursing has definitely been a challenge so I was so excited that we were on a roll. Hopefully we won't have to start all over when I get off this medicine but will remember everything that we learned. In the meantime I have to pump and dump which is so frustrating because I just have to lug around this pump everywhere I go. I know Molly will still get everything that she will need from the formula but it is just not how I envisioned everything. Nursing was something that was really important to me but it will be ok, it is only a couple of days - fingers crossed this antibiotic works and I don't have to try something else out. So, it has been a long road thus far. Plus those baby blues in the first week were hard to get through. All my hormones were changing, life was changing, I was getting no sleep and I was just looking at everything thinking what in the world just happened. After some time, things just fall into place and start to work out - minus all my problems but that eventually has to fall in to place as well, right?!? That is what the doctors keep telling me......
