So, a couple weeks ago I took Molly in for her 18 month appt and the doc said she was doing great and that she might even be ready for potty training since she understands and communicates so much. Well, let me be honest I was not jumping on the band wagon. I mean, it is great that she could be ready and she has shown quite a bit of interest but.....I don't think I am ready to have to constantly ask if she has to go potty and make potty stops every five minutes while we are out. Maybe a little selfish on my part but it is nice to go somewhere and not have to add something else to my list to think about. Yes, diapers are cumbersome and expensive and I could start carrying a purse again instead of a diaper bag but still I just don't know. BUT, this afternoon we took a trip to Target. I know I should never do this but we didn't have any other plans because she has a nasty cold so off we went to the place where you can't spend less than $100. I can give myself kudos though, I left there spending $94 this time, that counts right?!? Progress people.
I digress, Target, potty. So we walked down the potty isle and I saw this cute princess one and well, I bought it and I bought pull ups but forgot big girl panties. I mean I have never done this before I don't know what you need. Apparently I also forgot flushable wipes. Are the ones that I already use NOT flushable? Come on people! I understand you have to make a profit but goodness you are gonna make a girl go broke because I might have also walked down the toy isle and for girls it is just a magic place. It brings back all kinds of memories of dolls and Barbies and all things pink. I can't wait to play babies with Molly and kitchen which that is something that is totally on my toy list for her but I gotta space these things out so I don't get a look from Danny that says "Lauren, she doesn't need anything else." And, while I know that, I just can't help myself. Having a little girl kinda makes you want to play Barbies all over again.

Anyway, back to the whole point of this post - the potty. I buy the necessary items minus a couple, come home, open the box and immediately M says "take diaper off" then sits down. I don't even tell her this is your potty, etc. She knew, which is weird. Then for 15 minutes she sits down, stands up, sits down, stands up over and over again then finally pees in the potty. She claps for herself, the potty plays the royal music saying she did a good job then she stands up and 10 seconds later pees all over the floor.
All that to say, are we there? I don't know. We will see. I am not ready to hardcore potty train but if she wants to use it it is there.
Oh and on a side note from the appt she weighs 27 lbs and is 32 inches tall. And, I know there are no pics of M in this post so most of you aren't interested but I couldn't post the cute pics I got of her on the potty on the internet! I will do a photo dump soon.
